US Mint issue Commemorative Boy Scout Coin
Thanks to Loren
Meinke for pointing this out. The US Mint has issued a new silver
dollar coin for the Boy Scout Centennial Celebration. Only 350,000 coins
will be minted. This is from the actual US Mint and was authorized
by Congress.
You can check
out the coin at the mint web site by

Might be a good
way to get scouts working on the Collecting merit badge!
This year, the
Northern Star Council and Totanhan Nakaha Order of the Arrow Lodge are
hosting the annual Section conclave at Phillippo Scout Camp on the
second week in September. During the section conclave OA members from as
far away as eastern Montana will come to the Twin Cities for training
and fellowship.
The second weekend in September has normally been the Northern Lights
chapter conclave. The OA lodge has said we may not hold conclaves on the
weekend as they want all available OA members to attend the section
conclave.
So, as a district, we made the decision to switch the conclave weekend
with the Camporee weekend.
For 2010,
The Fall
Camporee weekend is:
Sept 10th, 11 and 12th
The OA Conclave weekend is:
Sept 24th, 25th and 26th.
The OA Vigil Conclave weekend is:
Oct 1st, 2nd and 3rd
(For Vigil
members and Vigil Candidates only)
All three events
are held at Rum River Scout Camp.
Please include
these dates in your troop planning calendars.
The new
2010-2011 calendar still has the old dates. But, the District web
site has the correct dates.
Also, please communicate this information to your troop committee and
any adult or youth OA members.
The Northern Star Council is planning to offer 3 Wood
Badge courses in the winter, spring and fall of 2010.Fall course
dates will be September 10-12 and October 1-3.
Grey Wolf National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)
There will be 5 sessions of Grey Wolf training at Fred
C. Andersen Scout Camp in the summer of 2010. With National Jamboree
scheduled in late summer, Grey Wolf Course #3 and Course #4 will run
during the week preceding and following Independence Day, rather than
taking a break that week. In this way, all NYLT courses will be
completed prior to Jamboree start.
Nomination forms will be mailed early January.
Nominations for participation will be due no later than April 15, 2010.
*Again this year* Nominations MUST have names included.

OA Monthly Chapter Meetings
OA youth members are invited to monthly chapter meetings for Order of
the Arrow. It’s your chance to have an impact on and to plan activities
for our chapter. Meetings are the same date, time and place as the
monthly roundtable. Please be sure your youth arrow members know of this
opportunity and since you are coming to roundtable anyway, invite the
youth members to come along.

ideas with other leaders, as well as get
information on events that are happening
on a district level.
