New Year, New Lights, Northern Lights

The New Year is upon us, as are new units, new youth, and new leaders in Northern Lights! At December's Roundtable, Jed Dotterer and Chris Postuma were awarded the prestigious William D. Boyce Award, honoring their accomplishments in starting new units. Jed Dotterer took the lead in starting Venture Crew 582 in Rogers, chartered to Northridge Fellowship. Chris Postuma took the lead in starting Troop 590 in Otsego, chartered to Elk River/Rogers American Legion.

Interested in starting a unit or know of a potential chartered partner? Contact your Support. District Executive, Amy Hoeschen, ahoeschen@nsbsa.org, 651-231-7226. Other great resources are experienced Scout Leaders like Jed Dotterer, Chris Postuma your Unit Commissioner, or other District Committee Members.

This New Year also provides new opportunities for leadership development and service. There are a number of positions open on the District Committee, including Membership Chair. Are you organized? Innovative? Excited about exposing others to that Scouting Kool-Aid? This year, choose to challenge yourself while helping others. Try something new, and join the District Committee. Contact Ken Rasmussen, the Northern Lights District Chairman at kennethgrasmussen@gmail.com.

2013 Friends of Scouting

The new 2013 Friends of Scouting Campaign has already kicked-off! With the leadership of District Development Chair, Chip Chapin, the Northern Lights' Community Campaign is already halfway complete. In the family FOS campaign, Units are conducting presentations and follow-up, giving each Northern Lights family an opportunity to pledge to the campaign. Please contact Family FOS chair, Brodie Pedersen with any questions or concerns, brodiecp@gmail.com.
