Over 150 people attended the 2013 Northern Lights Annual District Dinner at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Awards included the new Aurora Borealis unit award, recognizing outstanding individuals within Northern Lights district units.
A big thank you goes to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Scott Scheiller, Bea Murphy, Gene Stobbs, Charlie Murphy and the District Dinner Coordinator, Sheila Parviz. If you missed this year’s District Dinner, make sure to save next year’s date: Tuesday February, 11th, 2014.
Leif Klang, the Training Guy
Who is the Training Man in the district? The one and only Leif Klang is the District Training Chair. Are you trained?
Northern Lights held many training opportunities this spring, including Mini Philmont, Boy Scout Leader Training, Cub Scout Leader Training, and Youth Protection Training. Missed your chance to get in person training this spring? Prioritize your fall, and get trained!
Opportunities will be available this fall. Check the Northern Lights website for updates, or contact Leif Klang at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Jason Klema received his Woodbadge Beads at this year’s District Dinner. What’s Woodbadge? Ask the training guy: Leif Klang.
Merit Badge Madness
Over 220 Boy Scouts came out for this year’s Merit Badge Madness! Vicky Mehrwerth and the Advancement Committee, along with Scoutmaster Bucky, Brian Reiners organized a stellar event! Merit Badge Counselor Spencer Driskill taught Boy Scouts about Photography at Merit Badge Madness. Boy Scouts learned about Auto Mechanics at Merit Badge Madness.
Farewell from Amy
As many of you may already know, I have resigned from my position with Northern Star Council. I have learned so much for each and every one of you: at roundtable, at camp, at training, at the district committee meetings…and everywhere else. Thank you for everything that you do in developing the youth of Northern Lights District. As you continue to strengthen the Scouting Movement, you are creating an even stronger, more welcoming, and (of course) fun community. You keep Northern Lights shining bright! Thank you! Yours is Scouting, Amy Hoeschen.
