Spring Camporee: Space Exploration 2014
This May 9th to 11th at Stearns Scout Reservation is Northern Lights Spring Camporee. This year scouts will be working with rockets: Cost is $15 per scout which includes rockets. Webelos may attend if coming With a Boy Scout Troop. MIssion Control says "Scouts Get ready to Blast Off in May".
Welcome to Del Wilkinson!
Northern Lights District is excited to welcome a new DistrictCommissioner:
Del Wilkinson. Del and his wife Joanne moved back to Minnesota to be closer to family in their retirement.
Del was active in Scouting for years with Heart of America Council, serving in just about every position from the unit level up to the Board, and soaring to Area 5 Commissioner. He is an Eagle Scout and a Deacon in the Catholic Church. When you see Del at one of our Scouting events come up and say "hello!".
Popcorn Pays for Scouting
Does your unit charge dues? Do you have to pay for camping,
If you said yes to. either of1:hos~ questions, you need to talk to Jane Hansen. Jane Hansen, Northern Light's District Popcorn Chair and this fall she wants to make sure that your scout earns his way to an entire year of Scoutmg.
Several families and a few units already fund their entire year of Scouting with the Popcorn Sale, and you can too. One fundraiser in the Fall will power your way through the entire year, over 70 goes back to local scouting and the risk is zero. So unless you like to writing checks every month for various programs give Jane a call today.
Fall Camporee is September 26-28 at Rum River Scout Camp. This great event is open to all Boy Scouts and any Webelos who are camping with a Troop.
We are very excited to have Joe Sears running the camporee this Fall and hope you'll be able to make it. Details can be found on the Northern Lights District website
Cub Scout Picnic & Cubannapolis Races
When: Wednesday, July 30th 2014.
Where: Central Park, 8440 Regent Avenue North in Brooklyn Park.
Who: All Cub Scouts and family members
Cost: The games, races and root beer floats are FREE!
Gathering games and picnic start at 6:00 p.m. and our Races start at 7:00 p.m.
Back by popular demand, root beer floats will be served after the last race! This year we will be having races for siblings and parents so make sure the whole family is revved up.
For the Picnic that starts at 6:00 p.m. You can bring your charcoal and items to cook on one of the parks grills or we will have hot dogs, chips and a beverage for sale. Dens are welcome to coordinate amongst themselves for dinner. Check the Northern Lights District Website for the rules ofthe race.
This is a great opportunity to help your pack earn the National Summertime Pack Award.
