Thank you to everyone who has participated in our 2017, Friends of Scouting campaign. The funds raised go a long way towards maintaining the camps, programs and opportunities available to our Scouts. It is truly appreciated!

For those Units that made their Friends of Scouting Unit goal, you can pick up your recognition items starting on June 30. These are pinewood derby car kits for Packs and cloth badges and rank advancements for Troops and Crews.

Units that achieved their stretch goals will be receiving their recognition medallions at upcoming Roundtables.

This week we would like to highlight our wonderful Cub Family Camps held at our very own Camp Stearns! Family camps offer an exciting way to go Scouting with the whole family. It offers programs for novice to experienced campers and siblings are very much welcome!

Better access to your school opens all kinds of doors for your unit (figuratively and literally). Now is the time to start building a relationship with your school.

For more information visit www.adoptaschool.scouting.org

The best way to do this is through the Adopt a School program. Scouts need service hours and schools need service, talk to your principal or PTA/PTO today.

Scouting is only $24 a year, $12 for Boys Life per year. $3 a month is very affordable. but then there are the "other" costs after that. Picking up a uniform, putting on patches, going on pack or troop campouts, summer camp, winter camp, activities, camporees, pinewood derby; it adds up real fast. Plus if you have more than one Scout in the family, multiply all that. This program is supposed to be a fun, learning experience, not a stress on the family's bottom line.

We are here to help you all the way through. If your Pack/Troop/Crew does not sell popcorn, you should be asking yourself "why not". Popcorn is a little to no risk fundraiser that the council provides for our unit and even gives your scout tons of prizes for selling. 35% of every item sold goes back to your unit. A portion of those profits should go to supporting your Scouts going to camp and other activities. This portion should be dictated by your unit bylaws. By utilizing the popcorn sale the council sponsors and runs, your Scout can go to all the events he wants and pay his own way. To sign your unit up to sell popcorn or ask questions, contact popcon@nsbsa.org.
