Excerpt from the
Viking Log, the Viking Council volunteer
publication. August / September 2000.
Bob Litke, the jovial
Ranger of the Viking Council’s Rum River
Scout Camp, has just completed his 25th
Anniversary at camp.
Bob started in the
Viking Council in 1975 following a short
time as Ranger for the Central Minnesota
Council. He had received his Bachelors
degree in Wildlife Management from the
University of Minnesota.
Bob had been a Scout in
Pierz, Minnesota where he earned the rank of
Eagle including earning 64 merit badges. He
since has gone on to serving as a committee
member in a pack and troop for his son Wade,
who has also earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
Bob has been honored with the Vigil honor in
the Order of the Arrow.
In his "spare time" Bob
serves on the Ramsey Volunteer Fire
Department, is a member of the Knights of
Columbus Anoka Council and is in the Ramsey
Lions.
In the late 70's Bob
was known as Wrangler Bob the director of
the Cub Scout day camps and then the
traveling day camps. This was in addition to
his job as Camp Ranger.
Helping Bob do the very
large task of maintaining the property and
helping units with their stay at the camp is
his wife Mary Jo. Mary Jo, and his two boys
Wade and Chad, have helped with the many
jobs from cutting grass to helping a unit
with their program.
We salute Bob and his
family for making the Rum River Scout Camp
home for thousands of Scouts, leaders and
parents. Thanks Bob!
